Control samples collected from the manufacturing plant near Chennai by the Indian drug regulator were scrutinized, and the results indicated the absence of contaminants in the eye drops. It is important to note that control samples are taken from the batches exported and maintained by the company as part of its stringent quality control processes, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the products.
Sources within the Union Health Ministry have revealed that similar samples were obtained by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in India. These samples underwent testing at an approved laboratory in Bengaluru and were also found to be free of contaminants, as confirmed by both the FDA and the Indian Drug regulation.
A joint investigation conducted by India’s apex drug regulator and state drug controller in February revealed that Global Pharma Healthcare regularly conducts “media fill validation” biannually. During this investigation, the records pertaining to this validation process were meticulously reviewed by India’s drug regulation, contributing to the comprehensive evaluation of the company’s manufacturing practices and product quality.
